Acupuncture Explained
Acupuncture has been practiced for over 2000
years, with the core view that the body has a vital
energy or “Qi” (pronounced chee) that flows through
a series of interconnecting pathways or meridians
(similar to how a current runs through an electrical
circuit). When there is a disruption to the balance
of the body, we get a disruption in the flow of Qi,
the body may manifest this with all sorts of
symptoms including pain, fatigue, illness,
discomfort or just not quite feeling 100%. Using
fine sterile needles on specific acupoints
throughout the body or by stimulating these points
using other means including cupping, laser therapy,
moxibustion or electric stimulation, the
practitioner is able to restore the flow of Qi
throughout the body, thus restoring the natural
balance of the body.
Since 1979, the World Health Organization has
recognized Acupuncture to be a means to successfully
treat various disorders including but not limited
to: Osteoarthritis, sciatica, low back pain, frozen
shoulder, tennis elbow, sore throat, common cold,
headaches, migraines, digestive system disorders,
skin conditions and many more.
